C4 Atlanta Advocacy Platform
advocating for artists
C4 Atlanta Advocacy Committee was establish on September 24, 2015 to Advocate for artists’ needs – including learning how to work ethically with artists. C4 Atlanta recognizes that artists are integral to the social and economic fabric of the Greater Atlanta Community.
The Advocacy Committee is a permanent committee of the C4 Atlanta Board of Directors. It is comprised of arts workers and community members. Non-board members may join this committee.
The C4 Atlanta Advocacy committee will:
1) Use a cause-based approach to support individual artists and creatives in greater Atlanta. Some causes identified, but not limited to are equity in the arts, fair wage, cross sector recognition of artists as economic drivers, and changing how we define art practices (both reflective and visceral).
2) Be aware of and support local arts advocacy initiatives that align with C4 Atlanta’s core values.
3) Be aware of and support national arts advocacy initiatives that align with C4 Atlanta’s core values.
C4 Atlanta maintains relationships with elected officials, community leaders, businesses and more to ensure that artists are part of the city dialogue. Advocacy may include policy change, but education is also a strong ally of equality. We tell everyone we know and meet how important artists are to a vibrant and healthy city.
