Atlanta BeltLine, Inc. (ABI) has opened the 2020-2021 Business Façade pARTnership Grant for businesses to apply for capital improvements to the façade of their business site by a local artist or maker professional. Grants could be up to $40,000 and will vary depending on the cost to implement the approved capital improvement design. This is the business application deadline. A call for artist and maker professionals, featuring the façade improvement project opportunities, will be announced in November.
The application period is open through October 7, 2020, at 5 p.m. Interested businesses located within the Atlanta BeltLine TAD should fill out and submit an application online outlining their façade improvement needs. A panel of subject-matter experts from ABI will review applications using established standards and criteria and select three to four businesses to participate in the 2020-2021 program.

Once business participants have been selected, a call for artist and maker professionals, featuring the façade improvement project opportunities, will be announced. Artist partners will be invited to submit proposals that showcase the business’ proximity to the BeltLine by providing a new BeltLine-facing façade, implementing a COVID-related adaptation to the storefront, or other façade improvement resulting in the attraction of new tenants, investment, and customers to the districts. Artist partner proposals will be reviewed by subject-matter experts from ABI and receive input from the corresponding business participant.
Below is the anticipated timeline for the full 2020-2021 Business Façade pARTnership Grant:
- October 7, 2020: business applications due
- November 2020: business participants selected and scope of work created and issued for a call for artists
- December 2020 – January 2021: artist partners selected and agreements executed
- February 2021: final design concepts completed and permitting begins
- March – May 2021: finish permitting and project sites go into construction
- June 2021: Project Sites Complete
More details will be provided for artists to apply for the program in approximately November of this year.
