Call for: Contract Storyboard artist for an Animated Pilot

This project is non-union and can be done remotely. We are primarily looking for applicants living in the EST timezone and/or Georgia where the main team is currently located. We can only accept candidates who are able to legally work in the US.

Our selection decisions will be based on the following criteria:

  • A portfolio that reflects skills and experience in storyboarding for animation.
  • Relevant work experience, background, or expertise in Afrofuturism world-building.

The schedule of selection is listed below. Please review thoroughly before applying to make sure you are available to complete the process if selected. 

Compensation: $USD 5000 

Duration of Project Completion time: Sept 28th to Nov 12th (6.5 weeks) 

Estimated Workload: 600-700 panels/ time: 220 hours (We do not work weekends) 

Action Scene level: Intermediate (Not action sequence intensive) 

Skill Level: Intermediate/ Experienced 

Style reference: Avatar- The Last Airbender, Aya of Yop City, Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeast

Project Details: 

We are looking for candidates with prior experience in storyboarding with mastery in skills such as camera movement, character acting, and the ability to bring characters to life.  Portfolios should exhibit samples of beat boards, storyboards,  and animatic. An art test and further samples may be requested in lieu of an updated portfolio or relevant industry credits.

Our animated pilot is centered around the Afrofuturism theme. The show is a combination of tones from “Ex Machina” and “Children of Men” with the visual style of the animated “Avatar: The Last Airbender” and “Dark Crystal”. 

Art Test: 

We will notify our final candidates about their status on September 19th. A paid storyboard test with a compensation of $200USD may be assigned on September 20th to finalists. Candidates will have September 20th – 26th to complete the test.

  • The estimated amount of workload for the storyboard test is 1.5 days based on an 8 hour day including the time needed for comprehension of the project brief and narrative. 
  • Please be aware that only candidates who completed the storyboard tests within the given time range will be considered for the compensation fee.
  • Completing a storyboard test does not guarantee you a position on the project.

Due to the nature of the project, our notification for cut off date are as follow (All times are in EST):

Portfolio Submission Deadline: Sept 17th Thursday 12 midnight

Portfolio Selection/ Notification: Sept 18th Friday 6pm  (If selected- NDA will be sent/ contract for art test/ art test details) 

Selected applicants Confirmation: Sept 19th 

Assigned art test: Sept 20th

Art test Submission deadline: Sept 26th 12 midnight

Final Selection/ contract sent: Sept 28th 6pm

We will ask for a reference check if you are shortlisted and you may be scheduled for an interview/art test. If you do not hear from us by the dates listed above, please assume that we are unable to move forward with your application.
