C4 Atlanta’s New Arts Center In South Downtown
Keep Atlanta artists in South Downtown. Support C4 Atlanta’s new home.
C4 Atlanta announces a space expansion to provide more studio opportunities to Atlanta-based artists. C4 has signed a lease to become a tenant at 132 Mitchell Street.
Donate now to support our new home and the artists who learn and work here. This isn’t just an opportunity to support a project that helps artists to build stronger careers in our city. It’s also a chance to give a unique gift, share a personalized message with Atlanta, and/or add your name to our new walls as a supporter of Atlanta artists!
Add your name to our walls.
For a donation of $100, $250 or $500+ dollars, you can literally put your name on our wall! You can choose your name, or any message you’d like to be added to a paintbrush or pallette. These will be installed on the entrance walls at our new Mitchell Street home.
At the $100 level (Twyla Tharp Level), your message will be added to the small paintbrush with a 50 character limit.
At the $250 (Bob Marley Level), your message will be added to the large paintbrush with a 100 character limit.
At the $500 level (Frida Kahlo Level), you or your company can add your name or message to a large artist palette with a 200 character limit.
Why a new space? The expansion is part of an effort to keep arts workers from being fully displaced from South Downtown. With new development coming, real estate prices are expected to escalate. This trend is happening in Atlanta and other major cities across the United States. After being at the M Rich Building since 2012, this move will allow C4 Atlanta to double its current space capacity. C4 Atlanta has a target move-in date of May 1, 2019.
What will C4 Atlanta offer in our our new space? Our new space will serve as the new home for the awesome professional development programming we are known for: workshops, classes and events all about strengthening your arts career. In addition to artist studios, the new arts center will offer offices for small arts businesses and nonprofits. The space will have two common area rooms for meetings or workshops, which will also be available for artists to rent hourly for workshops or events. Our new arts center will also pilot a new incubation program that combines professional development and coaching with studio space for artists. C4 Atlanta works with a diverse array of artists that includes visual artists, performing artists, film makers, musicians, and curators. Lastly, this will become C4 Atlanta’s home office for our staff to continue working on initiatives that support arts workers in Atlanta. The space has a new HVAC system, elevator, and build-out is to begin soon for a fully ADA compliant bathroom. The new arts space will also be renovated with new floors and paint before move-in.
What costs will your donations help to cover? For starters, we’ll have costs related to moving that we’ll need covered including movers and purchasing moving supplies. We’ll need some new appliances/furnishings including a new refrigerator in our kitchenette area and some additional furniture. Donations will also help us to subsidize the rents in our new location to below-market rates, so that artists can continue to find affordable space in South Downtown. We’re also hoping to hire a few local artists to paint our hallways and common areas with murals.
Donate now to ensure that local artists have a supportive home in South Downtown.
