The Mainline: Music, News, & the Human Condition

The Mainline is currently seeking sponsorship of our quarterly print issues in 2020. Our circulation numbers are currently 1,000 copies, 8.5″ x 11″, full color, 60 inside pages + cover. We are a free publication and distribute mostly in Atlanta, but we are in other cities, as well. Our second issue, “The Way Out Issue,” was distributed in Atlanta, Asheville, Birmingham, Brooklyn, Denver, Los Angeles, Nashville, and Seattle.

Each issue includes four sections: Speaking of Music, News in Perspective, Unpopular Opinion, and Deep Cuts. Our news section is unique in that we do not chase the hype of mainstream media. Instead, we slow down and take in-depth looks into the issues to help cultivate awareness amongst our readers with the intentions of inspiring real change. Issue two extensively covered voter suppression in Georgia, letting the 2018 gubernatorial election serve as an example to paint a bigger picture for the rest of the country. In 2020, we intend to cover Stacey Abrams’ anticipated trial against Georgia’s State Board of Elections that begins in late March 2020. Our fourth issue, “The Boundary Issue,” will cover the 2020 US Census and how it connects to the prison industrial complex, immigration, federal funding, healthcare, public school systems, education, etc.

Overall, the Mainline’s projects serve to fill in the gaps that mainstream media tend to skim over. We are not commercially owned or operated, allowing us complete autonomy to practice independent journalism without being censored.

The Mainline also hosts a lot of events in Atlanta and intends to do more in 2020. Our events are aimed to bring various art forms and genres together, promoting intersectionality within our local arts and music scenes.
