COVID-19 CREATIVE ECONOMY RECOVERY PROGRAM

CONNECTING SMALL BUSINESSES TO CREATIVE WORKERS

What is the COVID-19 Creative Economy Recovery Program?

Case for Support

The Atlanta Arts & Culture community has taken a tremendous blow since the realities of COVID-19 forced social distancing into our reality as a city. C4 Atlanta's two COVID-19 impact surveys in April and June 2020 showed an extensive financial impact on artists' livelihoods and tremendous uncertainty for the future. Additionally, many small businesses in our community have also been negatively impacted by the pandemic.

Our Solution

In November 2020, C4 Atlanta piloted the COVID-19 Creative Economy Recovery Program.  10 artists were identified who would provide creative solutions to small businesses recovering from COVID-19 impact. With the help of creative entrepreneur Richard Dunn and Village Market ATL, each artist was paired based on their skill set, the needs of business owners, and compatibility of personality and work style.

Projects focused on small interventions that could be completed in 3 months or less for maximum impact. Both artists and businesses were paid for their participation, paid at regular intervals. These projects provided creative workers with regular, dependable income. For business owners, the projects provided creative deliverables to help with their most challenging issues.
